Biography Born on 2 February 1912 in Fort Scott, Kansas, Maurice Faulkner was awarded a B.S. from Fort Hayes State College in 1932. While teaching music in the public school system, he earned a M.A. from the Teacher's College at Columbia University. Faulkner was appointed to the faculty of San Jose State College in 1937, and received a Ph.D. from Stanford University in 1956.
